Does Apex Legends have cross platform multiplayer?
Yes, Apex Legends does have crossplay and cross platform multiplayer.
Crossplay and cross platform multiplayer was added to Apex Legends via beta format on October 6th.
Although the long-awaited feature has come as a beta, you can still play with your friends on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
However, you should know that when it comes to matchmaking PC players are only paired against each other.
PS4 and Xbox One players are pitted against one another via matchmaking, but PC players are not. They are only able to play with specific console gamers who party up with them.
While the Apex Legends cross platform multiplayer beta is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, nothing has been mentioned about the Nintendo Switch.
How to play Apex Legends crossplay
You can play Apex Legends crossplay on PS4 and Xbox One automatically.
However, in order to play Apex Legends crossplay on PC, you will need to party up with specific PS4 and Xbox One friends so they can play with you.
PC players will only be pitted against other PC players in matchmaking, and any PS4 or Xbox One player who joins a PC mate will play exclusively against those on computers.
Respawn have said that they don’t want PS4 and Xbox One gamers competing against PC for obvious reasons, so know that PC crossplay is not a part of matchmaking in the beta.
To add PS4, Xbox One, or PC friends in the Apex Legends crossplay beta, all you need to do is go to the friends menu, select Find Friend, and then search for your friend’s username so you can send a request.
EA say that crossplay is automatically enabled, but that you can disable it in the Apex Legends settings.
